Catan versions8/4/2023 ![]() Teuber never thought his game would become so successful he finally left his dental technician job in 1998 “when I felt like Catan could feed me and my family,” he told the New Yorker. The classic board game with numerous extensions and scenarios as well as the card game (Rivals for CATAN) bring a real gaming table feeling to your smartphone, tablet, PC, or Mac. In the multi-player game, competitors use five resources to build their colonies, or settlements: wool, grain, lumber, brick, and ore. CATAN Universe Go on a journey into the CATAN universe and compete in exciting duels against players from all over the world. “I had many problems with the company and the profession,” he said. He was working as a dental technician in the 1980s outside the industrial city of Darmstadt when he took up designing board games in his basement, he told The New Yorker magazine in 2014. Teuber was born in June 1952 in the German town of Rai-Breitenbach. ![]() The family requested privacy.Ī statement from the Catan studio team on social media noted that “While Klaus’ contributions to the board gaming industry are immeasurable, we will remember him most as a kind and selfless human being, an inspirational leader, and most importantly, as a friend.” ![]() what the differences are between the Standard and Deluxe versions of the game. “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the Teuber family announces their beloved husband and father Klaus Teuber passed away at the age of 70 on Apafter a short and serious illness,” said the statement posted on the German-language Catan website. Thats right crew, CATAN Console Edition will be available to play on. The first tournament was held in Essen, Germany, in 2002. Catan has become such an iconic board game that there is a world championship tournament. As of 2021, there are a total of 30 different expansion packs and variations of the game. It has spawned dozens of spinoffs and new editions, including electronic versions, not to mention products related to the game. There are 30 different versions and extensions of Settlers of Catan. A few boisterous kids and a little warping and the game can be pretty. Settling on hexes that have higher chances of producing is still a good thing, and rolling a seven is still a bad thing, especially if you want to get resources or you don’t have anyone to rob. 1.The board that comes with Catan has hexagons and a border made of light cardboard. The board game, originally called The Settlers of Catan when introduced in 1995 and based on a set of hexagonal tiles, has sold tens of millions of copies and is available in more than 40 languages. There are hexes, resources, towns, and two dice. Klaus Teuber, creator of the hugely popular Catan board game in which players compete to build settlements on a fictional island, has died after a brief illness, according to a family statement. ![]()

Clustertruck steam8/4/2023 ![]() What struck me the most, was how the difficulty in each level fluctuated. Each world’s theme varies and takes you from the barren desert to medieval villages, all the way up to hell. The slow-mo power up was also great, and just added to that matrix feel even more and it was exhilarating to watch trucks fly past me in slow motion.Clustertruck has a lot of levels, over 80 in fact. Some aren’t so helpful as they are fun, though. The grappling hook led me to my death more times than not on the later levels, but it was fun swinging from truck to truck on the easier ones. The jetpack was my favourite and allowed me to skip over a lot of difficult parts simply by flying way over the top of them. All the abilities in this game are really fun to use, and I felt that each one changed how I played in a significant way. You can have two at a time, one on your left click and another on your right click. I never felt that the way the character controls was hindering my cool moves.Like most games these days, Clustertruck has a number of abilities for you to choose from. This is where the cool matrix like feeling comes in, and it felt amazing to chain difficult jumps together. Levels soon start getting hard, though, with large rocks falling down onto your pathway and stopping everything in their tracks. One level had me jumping across trucks impaled on spikes and it took me a few tries (over 50) to beat it. As well as jumping on top of the trucks, you can jump on the back of them for a height boost allowing you to clear several trucks at once. Good soundtrack or subliminal messages? You decide.Clustertrucks first world starts fairly easy and has you jumping over trucks with minimal effort. I found the music would will me on to get one more level in before I shut down the game and helped me to feel immersed in the environment. Each level has it’s own variation and I found myself turning my speakers up, rather than turning them down. Sometimes when I’m reviewing a game, I’ll turn the sound down to listen to a podcast or my own music. Aesthetics of the game are minimal and I’d more than likely be saying the same thing if I was running the game on a potato powered calculator. The soundtrack for Clustertruck, is awesome. There’s a few settings in game that allow you to turn off things like bloom and V-sync though. There’s not much more to say about performance, as the settings are the standard unity ones. Hopefully, this is something that will be fixed on launch. I never experienced any crashes while playing, but starting up the game was a nightmare and more often than not, crashed to the desktop. What I did experience though was a lot of crashing. You, the hero, or a guy who’s finally realised transporting cargo over dangerous terrain isn’t worth it, must jump, dodge and weave your way to the finish line.Performance on my machine was great and I didn’t experience any frame drops or hitching. It even comes without the rubbish plot!Clustertruck is a game about truck drivers who’ve never driven a truck before and are completely oblivious to their immediate doom. This guide uses the ccminer because it is compatible with nvidia cards but if you want, check out other mining options here. There are a few different Siacoin miners to choose from, but they all offer similar features and performance. In this guide we are going to use a nVidia graphic card and the ccminer software. The coins mined can then be used to purchase storage space in the network or be sold for other coins or fiat. Today, we are going to show you how you can be a part of this decentralized cloud storage network through mining. When the block reward reaches 30,000 (at block 270,000), all following blocks will give a 30,000 siacoin reward for eternity. Each block reward after that is one siacoin smaller than the previous block reward (299,999, then 299,998, and so on). The initial block reward was 300,000 siacoins. Sia uses a cryptocurrency called the Siacoin (SC). Cryptographically secure smart contracts ensure the encryption and transfer of data, leaving no room for a third party to interfere in any way. Sia leverages blockchain technology as a transaction layer for its network, allowing hosting to be purchased and sold in a secure and trustless way. The Sia Network aims to create a decentralized storage network by using the idle storage space of people from around the world, uniting them into a worldwide market for data storage. ![]()

Boinc render farm8/3/2023 ![]() ![]() If a scene takes 24 hrs to render on a single 32 core 3.6ghz machine. Here a little stats if you want to use cloud rendering instead of offline renderfarm. That will be around 1400w for GPU only, this would be cheapest solution in a very long run. But you can buy a machine with quad rtx 3090 or a6000. I won't say build a farm, because you can't maintain it by yourself. No networking, no licensing, no headaches, just business and creativity. Once a project is cleared, they get transferred to my NAS and removed from my local drive which is linked to my OneDrive. All my renders get pushed to Fox Renderfarm. ![]() So I work off my OneDrive (I have enough local storage to keep everything on my workstation) and can access any of those projects if I ever go remote since they’re shared through OneDrive. I’m completely on the cloud except for my NAS which I keep as a physical archive for old project in case clients come back and ask for things. This means more revenue, which is why I’m able to afford a cloud renderfarm for the projects. Maintenance on the nodes took time out of my work, slow speeds on the NAS, wrangling licenses., I ended up being more of an IT guy than a freelancer.įast forward to now and I’m turning around so many more projects, with a streamlined process. ![]() But just for me, it was redundant and there were way more efficient ways. On a large scale (like a company with a team) sure it would work. ![]() After a while, I realized how inefficient this setup was. I had a workstation setup connected to a network that can access the nodes, and a NAS to hold the projects. I built one, with 4 nodes and used a synology NAS, everything worked flawlessly in my home “studio”. So my natural thought process was to build a farm at home. At my former studio, we had a renderfarm that I also looked after (I was head of CG). I work on Maya + Arnold and I wanted to go freelance. You sound exactly like me around 3 years ago. So that's where I'd start Figure out what you need (multiple GPUs? High CPU core/thread counts? or even dual CPUs? lots of RAM? Storage? All of it?), then plan out a build using these components. That gives you a LOT of render power, and doesn't require you to maintain multiple nodes. A renderfarm with a specific use will be more cost-efficient than an allrounder farm, since you can focus on specific hardware parts to spend on and save on others.įor an individual artist, decking out a workstation with good hardware (and multiples thereof) is the much better option than building several nodes you'll have to maintain and hook into a network.Īndrey Lebrov on youtube for example built his workstation with 4 GPUs. If you don't have any suitable PCs around, you should first identify what exactly you plan to throw at it. Just beware that older hardware is also less efficient in terms of power used per frame. Honestly, if you have any old PCs laying around that have the hardware that can render your scenes, you can use those as nodes to render. Craftsman router8/3/2023 ![]() For a less-expensive approach to table routing, simply screw the base of a standard router to the underside of the table. Last, for use in a router lift, which holds a router motor upside down for table use, there are a variety of powerful router motors sold on their own, without bases. With 2-1/4- to 3-1/4-horsepower motors, these models can handle the biggest bits through the toughest woods, with zero vibration and super-smooth results. Large plunge routers are the domain of hardcore woodworkers and pros. Other woodworkers use theirs for template work and excavating inlay pockets with close control, while contractors use them for flush-trimming rough window openings, routing hinge mortises, and any other tasks where agility and ease are paramount. I keep mine set up with a small roundover bit for quickly easing edges. Also suitable for beginners, it’s the most nimble and compact of routers, and designed for easy and confident use with one hand for a variety of light tasks. If you already own a router or two, a trim router is a great next purchase. Smaller routers, on the other hand, cost less and are a little easier to control, especially when riding on narrow edges. The 1/2-inch collet lets you hold larger bits, which are less prone to vibration when making deep cuts. ![]() The advantages of larger routers: greater power and two sizes of “collets”- 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch. Routers come in a range of sizes, from compact “trim” models that can be held in one hand to larger two-handed plunge routers that do it all. A router kit gives you the best of both worlds for less. All things equal, a fixed-base router is more compact and easier to handle while a plunge router is more versatile. If this is your first router, then you should strongly consider buying a small or mid-sized combo kit, which includes a fixed base and plunge base with a router motor that fits both. There are two types of router bases, a plunge base that can be adjusted on the fly, letting the router cut deep pockets and grooves in a series of shallow passes and a fixed base, which can also be adjusted, but only between cuts with the motor switched off. Throughout my career, I’ve used and reviewed a wide range of routers, and these are the ones I recommend. I also remodeled three homes, built hundreds of projects, and wrote two books on the subject (check out Build Stuff with Wood: Make Awesome Projects with Basic Tools), and currently teach woodworking locally. ![]() For starters, are you shopping for your very first router or adding to your collection? The second question: What do you plan to do with this tool? The Expert: During my 30 years as a woodworker-both professionally and as a DIYer-I spent 15 as an editor at Fine Woodworking magazine and another six as a contributor to a variety of home-building and woodworking magazines. In fact, most woodworkers, contractors, and DIYers own more than one. Since a router is used in so many ways, one size does not fit all. This stationary setup is ideal when it's easier to move the workpiece rather than the router. You can also invert a router and attach it to a table, with the bit sticking upward and a fence guiding the workpiece. Other bits make doors, shutters, lettering, dished-out trays, or keyholes for hanging pictures.Īccessories like edge and bushing guides only increase your router’s versatility. There are bits for “molding” edges in all sorts of ways so you can design picture frames, shiplap, wainscoting, or your own window trim. These “router bits” come in an endless variety of shapes, which is part of what makes the router so useful. A router is a motor that’s attached to an adjustable base, with a “collet” that accepts a variety of cutting bits. If you’re just getting into woodworking, you’ll be hearing all about routers-not the type we all rely on for WiFi, but instead, the kind that’s a handheld power tool used for shaping. ![]()
